Problems from Birth Control
For my second blog I want to explain the dangers of
taking birth control or as some people may call it the pill. When taking a pill
that is meant for women to decrease the possibility of being pregnant there
come’s risk that could harm the woman’s body. Now I do not know a lot about the
anatomy of women, I just know the basics. That is why I have researched and
gathered information about how a pill can really affect a woman in more ways than
one. Birth control pills can affect a woman physical, but also mentally as
well. When taking birth control the female must first understand how birth
control works. The pill is used to prevent female pregnancy by stopping
ovulation, which means preventing the egg to release. Also, on top of that there are two types of
hormones usually composed in the pill which is estrogen and progestin.[1]
These hormones are what stabilize the woman’s natural hormone levels and the
estrogen helps the ovaries not release the eggs for pregnancy to occur. Some
physical side effects that have been common with women are; breakthrough
bleeding, decrease in libido, breast tenderness, and nausea or dizziness.
Basically libido is just a person’s desire to have sex and the breakthrough
bleeding is a pain for women, because they cannot predict when the bleeding
will happen. Now switching to the effects of how this pill can affect the
female mentally. One of the side effects is since the process of this
conception deals with the woman’s hormones the female may experience mood
swings.[2]
Depression has been noticed from previous users and doctors say that they have
prescribed antidepressant due to consuming birth control. After discussing
these mild side effects there are other serious health issues that can affect
the female. Some these include; heart disease, infertility, yeast infection,
migraines, and increase risk of blood clot. Recent studies said that the
leading cause of female deaths is hearth disease. Doctors are curious about the
correlation between the long term intakes of oral contraceptives and cause of
death from heart disease in women. Furthermore, yeast infections could occur,
because birth control has been said that it destroys the beneficial bacteria in
the intestines which would lower the immune system and infection to spread.[3]
Even though there are dangers to consuming this substance, but there is also
the benefactor of decreasing the chance in having a baby.
